Soviet and Russian conductor. He was Chief Conductor of the Leningrad Orchestra of Ancient and Modern Music (now St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra, 1974—1985). He is a founder and Chief Conducted of the Volgograd Academy Symphony Orchestra (from 1987). Honoured Man of Art of the RSFSR (1970). People’s Artist of Russia (1990).
