Russian conductor, professor. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1980). People’s Artist of the USSR (1988). State Prize of Russia in Musical Art (1994). He was Chief Conductor of the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra (1956 – 2007), the Siberia-East-West Youth Symphony Orchestra (2004 - 2007).
